Dunedin Marina Restoration Update

The City of Dunedin is actively restoring the Dunedin Marina following significant damage from Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Recent City Commission approvals are helping move these efforts forward.

In addition, a State Appropriation of $1,500,000 has been awarded and will be used to offset some of the costs.

Key Updates

• The City’s goal is to open the boat ramp in 2026 with new regulations.
• The stabilization of Docks A and B has been completed. Replacement of Docks A and B with floating docks is expected to start in 2028.
• The Fire Suppression system is fully operational.
• The Peninsula has reopened to the Windlasses, DTSA and the public.
• All Slip renters are able to return to the Marina. The Marina basin will remain closed until slip renters repopulate the Marina.
• The Marina boat ramp will remain closed to the public as the Marina is an active construction site. Reopening of the boat ramp will be re-evaluated after the marina is operational and construction of the most damaged areas has commenced.
• Slip Renters will be required to sign new agreements with the City prior to returning to the Marina. Slip renters can now purchase parking permits for 2026. 2027 parking permits will be available for purchase at the Harbor Master Office in December 2026.
• Installation of new shore power pedestals, which house utilities for docked boats, was completed in July, 2025.
• The City Commission awarded the bid to repair the Marina’s damaged seawall to BDI Marine at its July 17, 2025 Commission Meeting. Construction to repair the north seawall started on October 13th. The contractor is currently working on the east seawall. The parking area and drive aisle adjacent to Edgewater Park are closed. Access to the docks will be maintained, however there will be times during construction access will be limited. Construction completion expected in fall of 2026.
• The City of Dunedin reached an interlocal agreement with the City of Clearwater for assistance from Clearwater Marina staff to construct a temporary Ferry Landing/Dock at the Marina. The Clearwater Ferry started service on October 9, 2025.
• The City Commission approved a consultant contract on April 15, 2025 for the design and permitting of the replacement fishing pier, day docks, and emergency docks.
• Design and Permitting for the City's Fishing Pier started in May of 2025.
• The bid advertisement to select a contractor to demo the old pier and construct the new fishing pier, day docks and emergency docks closed in December. The City Commission awarded the project to On-Point Contracting Company, LLC at their January 8th meeting. Demolition of the damaged pier above the water was completed early summer of 2026.. Construction will commence upon approval of all permits.
• Design and Permitting for Docks A & B started in May of 2026. Permitting is expected to be 24 months.
